The jealousy paradox

Postby awexelblat » Thu Mar 24, 2016 2:06 pm

Jealousy is often discussed in a polyamorous context but even within monogamous relationships people get jealous (see much of popular literature, movies, etc.). People may be jealous just on sight of another person who has something they want, or who is getting all the attention at the party. One model for dealing with this is "don't do things that make your loved ones jealous"; another model is "jealousy is a problem for the individual to work on, with the support of their partner(s)." Another is "jealousy is a green-eyed monster that will destroy everything, so don't even admit to feeling jealous because then you are weak and worthless."

What works to help people deal with jealousy in different communities, different traditions?

(My intention with this panel would work best if we had some poly panel member(s), some monogamous, some from alternative sexuality communities and/or kink.)
