Too Much of a Good Thing?

Hi, all,

Care for a game of The Settlers of Catan? Sure, Cities and Knights, Traders & Barbarians, or Star Trek? OK, what about Fluxx? Sure, regular, Oz, Cthulhu, Martian, . . . ? Oy . . . what about Carcassonne? OK, what expans— Help!

What happens when a favorite game of yours—whether tabletop or electronic—becomes too top-heavy, with just too many expansions, editions, or official rules variants for you to keep track of, much less play? Do you just pick and choose which ones suit your fancy, stubbornly stick to the original and no other, or just go berserk? When does gaming become too much of a good thing?

Thanks,
