Cars of the Future . . . Today—Take 2

Postby millerdan2009 » Wed Feb 17, 2016 12:28 pm

Hi, all,

{Presenting this panel again, in the hopes that it could make it onto the schedule this coming Arisia . . .}

In 2017, we can't help but remember that automobiles didn't always have the safety features we take for granted today, such as disc brakes, seatbelts, and side-impact protection features. But when an innovative upstart car manufacturer put all three of these features in his prototype (albeit nearly seventy years ago), Detroit balked, big-time. What features today could motor vehicles have that would be easy to implement, but that for some reason the major car manufacturers have declined to include in their newest models? And by contrast, what innovations that we weren't necessarily expecting have been implemented securely?

Thanks,

Danny
