The Robots Are Coming (and it's OK?)

Postby awexelblat » Wed Sep 30, 2015 2:11 pm

Automation has displaced many workers, employed some, and greatly changed the skills expected of even the most common blue-collar workers. In the next decade robots may displace specialist and white-collar workers in increasing numbers. What can we realistically expect from robots in the next ten years - will they drive our cars, diagnose our ailments, care for or teach our children, or something else?

(The idea of this panel is not to discuss fictional robotics, Asimov's Laws, etc. but to talk about the best science we have on robotic developments and likely uses.)
