Hey Hey, Theyre the Monkees: 50 Years Later

(Hear me out.)

Fifty years ago, two television producers saw A Hard Day's Night and thought they maybe ought to get in on that. In 1966, hey brought four young men to the TV screen, and for the next two years Davy, Micky, Mike and Peter (and an army of famous and talented songwriters) sang and danced their way across every kind of goofiness imaginable. Crossing paths with haunted houses, supercomputers, evil (and less-evil) doubles, aliens, spies, and more mad scientists than you count on your hands, The Monkees was no stranger to fantasy elements strewn among the various gangsters and snooty old people. Also, c'mon, a lot of those songs were really good.

And on a related subject, since the topic here is films, don't forget that Michael Nesmith produced a number of films when he wasn't busy Monkeeing around. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0626452/
