I would love it if Allie Brosh who writes the webcomic/blog Hyperbole and a Half could come to Arisia 2014 and talk about her experiences with writing and comic drawing.

I know this is more Science (well, engineering) than Science Fiction, but does Dean Kamen do conventions?

I fourth Allie Brosh, if she'd be at all willing to come, and second Holly Black, as I'm a huge fan of her Modern Tales of Faerie. On a similar note I'd love to see Seanan McGuire at Arisia - she was at Vericon this year, but it was the same weekend as PAX East, so I couldn't make it.

On a vaguely similar note to Dean Kamen, if there's any way we could get Neil deGrasse Tyson at Arisia, I would be ridiculously excited. He's a great public speaker, a hell of a scientist, of course, and absolutely One of Us - look at his recent appearance in the Superman comics, and his contribution to Superman mythology in actually pinpointing a star that could be Rao.

Last but far from least, Greg Rucka and Gail Simone are both doing exciting things right now (Rucka has Lazarus, centering on a woman genetically engineered to protect the interests of her family in a dystopian world where the 1% have become the 0.0001% or so and the rest are serfs or 'waste'; Simone has Batgirl, The Movement, and the new Red Sonja series) and I'm sure they'd be wonderful guests.

Seanan was at Arisia a few years ago, but obviously she'd be great. And maybe she'd even bring her Hugo Award. :)

Hi, all,

I've already chimed in (albeit for Arisia 2013) my wish for Robert J. Sawyer to be Guest of Honor, so I'll refrain from "plugging" that further, but as far as Dean Kamen and Neil deGrasse Tyson go, I firmly believe that if WorldCon can get astronauts and other scientists as guests of honor, there's no reason whatsoever that Arisia can't, either. So yes, I'm wholeheartedly supporting the idea of Messrs. Kamen and/or Tyson as Guests of Honor.

That being said, another interesting choice along similar lines would be Neri Oxman. Prof. Oxman is Assistant Professor in Media Arts and Sciences at MIT's Media Lab, and she is an award-winning architect, artist, and designer as well. If Dean Kamen is willing to come in from New Hampshire, I'm pretty sure we can convince Neri Oxman to come in from Cambridge. :-)

Any chance we might be able to get Gene Wolf as a guest in the future?
